JDRF Walk for a Cure
Just a really big thankyou to everyone who came along and supported both JDRF and Edge Fitness on Sunday. It was our most successful event yet and combined with the years events we have raised $1645 for JDRF with some more cash and a few more donations to go in.
A big congratulations to everyone who ran and walked particuarly for the first time. I will be putting up the results and the handicaps for next year up in the next week or so.
Also there will be some photos and the video of the Jelly Baby falling of the stage in the event warmup and getting up to gangnam style.

A quick reminder to everyone that the JDRF walk (run) for a cure is on next weekend. We would love to see everyone come along for the morning and if you can't make it you are welcome to make a small donation (or large if you wish)

Edge Fitness Shirts
The Edge Fitness Shirts were a big success though we did have issues with sizes and these are finally being replaced. If you would like to order a shirt they are $35 each and you can pick Orange or Teal - your own name or nickname, your number and personal slogan or moto.

Corbyn Nationals 3rd Place
Edge Fitness would like to congratulate Corbyn Berry on his Third Place at his first National Competition. To achieve what Corbyn has done requires a massive commitment both in training and diet. As well as the ability to stay motivated and disciplined over the last few months.
I hope everyone can aspire to add a little more motivation and discipline to their training and lifestyles over the next few months - here’s looking forward to those summer bodies :)

Ryan Kukura - 5th WAFL Grand Final
Just a quick one to let you know that Ryan has been appointed to his 5th League Grand Final and will be umpiring the Claremont v East Fremantle game on Sunday at Patersons Stadium.
Corbyn 1st Place
Edge Fitness would also like to congratulate Corbyn Berry on his first place at the INBA State Titles in the mens junior division. This was Corbyn's first competition and really the work he has put in has been huge and the results have been awesome. Well done!

Post City to Surf Bowling
This is a great chance to discuss your race stories and triumphs. Or even if you didn’t partake in the race come along to join in the fun and still have a great night out and maybe gain some motivation for next year’s event.
Not only should this be a bit of fun but have the rare chance to see some of your trainers and other Edge Fitness Members in regular non exercise ...
Friends and family are welcomed and encouraged. I have several lanes booked but if you do plan on coming any notice would be great so I can book more if required. (Though just turning up is more than acceptable)

Ryan Kukura Joins the WAFL 200 Club
We would just like to quickly congratulate Ryan on his milestone achievement. The 200 club is an elite group of Players and Umpires as you can see from the list below.
200 games from Ryan has included many highlights but really this is a recognition of 12 years of ups and downs and persistance through many injuries and alot of hard work and kms along the way.

JDRF 1 Hour Kokoda Challenge
It is almost that time again and our next run is set to be a cracker.
This year we are modifying the Kings Park run from being a looped course to a longer run down the foreshore past UWA with one lap and multiple Kokoda repeats to finish of the hour for all the quicker runners out there :)
The run is on the 29th of July
We are looking at starting at 8am on the last Sunday of July and will be meeting at the bottom of the Kokoda Track on Mounts Bay Rd.
As always the cost is just a $10 donation which goes to JDRF.
This will be a great morning out and we are all looking forward to seeing many of you down there.
JDRF BIBBULMUN TRACK
Ok just another early heads up that the next run is fast approaching.
This is the premier run of the year and is the JDRF Bibbulmum Track run on the 20th of May. If you are not sure of the details have a look at the JDRF Page and talk to your trainers or myself.
So get the trail shoes out, work out your car pooling and get excited for it :)

Ok at long last our hoodies have been re ordered and they should be in on the 30th of April - ok we know the date is unlikely but atleast they should be on their way. It looks like they now have the right coloured fabrics and things should be better this time around, I am told.
Fingers crossed but good news either way.
The first is our next run for JDRF - this is another 1 hour challenge and will be run at Sorrento Beach this Sunday at 8am. We are meeting at the South Side of the Surf LifeSaving Club and it will be an out and back course with some sand/path loops to finish. It is a very powerful independent financial and tax planning tool when used properly. Grant is a great speaker so the evening will be fast moving.
It is not a plug for products but a good info night. Sondergaard Chartered Accountants will be organising on the night. We all have Super and I know most people are not happy with the results they achieve in big funds. This is all about controlling your money. Anyway there is my plug!

What a great weekend. Thanks to everyone who came down to run, support and help out with the walk for JDRF. It was a really great morning with perfect weather for the race.
Congratulations to Brenda Coutts for taking out the inaugural trophy coming of a 6 minute stagger. It was a very close top three with Andrew Smith coming of 13 minutes to place second and Pamela Souris starting of scratch to take out 3rd.
I hope you have been training hard and are excited and ready for the weekend and the big one - the JDRF Run for a Cure. We are all ready and looking forward to having you down for a great fun filled morning.
Also we have introduced a trophy for this years winner and are looking forward to seeing the result on the day. - As there is a stagered start the winner could be anyone who has posted a previous JDRF time. If you run this year you will also qualify for the race next year.

Also just a quick one in regards to the JDRF Run – rather than bring money down on the day – if you register as part of team Edge Fitness on the JDRF page and put on at least a $15 donation that will count as your registration – this will save time on the morning and you can grab your receipt that way.

I hope you have had a fantastic week, we have definately had some great weather to train in. Particuarly those crisp and clear mornings :)
We all hope you have been enjoying your last few weeks of training, particuarly those who have managed to get in a training session to a 'fun' location, (I am sure that is what my Scarborough group was thinking about Mount St and Jacobs) or those who have also been involved in some of th fun games that we have been running.
Just a quick reminder that the city to surf is not far away, so by now you would have hit all your long k's and be starting to taper of. If you are not sure about this have chat with your trainer.
Also after the city to surf there will be a heap of trainers and runners heading out to dinner to celebrate all your hard work and have a social catch up. More info will be coming out soon but if you are interested please let your trainer know so we can start to work out numbers and a best location.

For those of you who have city to surf goals hopefully the rain did not stop you. These few weeks really are you big weeks and you need to do the hard work, not long now.
Training tip for the day - rain is just water falling from the sky, not a reason to skip training. Just think of how you feel after a session, and it's an even better feeling when you have made it through testing conditions. Train hard, make the most of the cool weather and get yourselves set for summer which will be here before you know it :)

Also a big congratulations to a few people - Cadel Evans - Champion Effort in the Tour De France. We think one of Australias greatest sporting achievments.
Also congratulations to Samantha Kukura and the rest of the Australian AeroDance team who won the gold medal at the World Championships in LAs Vegas on the Weekend.
Finally a really big congratulations to those who came down for the run on the weekend. It was a great turnout and everyone was able to run further and faster than last time which was fantastic. Great effort all around on what was a perfect Perth Morning.

I will be running again this year and have a set a personal goal to make the top 100 in the 12k. It would be great if you would also like to add your personal goal to the list to help inspire everyone else along the way. It could be running non stop, completeting a new distance or even just finishing :)

Just a quick thankyou to the Australian Institute of Fitness for letting Edge Fitness use their facilities to take the photos for our exercise library. Finally we are getting this section up of the ground and you should notice new exercises and photos being added daily. A big thankyou to Adam Rowney for taking photos and Shaun Voysey for demonstrating the exercises.
Well our Bibbulmun track run has now past for another year and well what a run and a turnout it was. The turnout for this event was our biggest outside of the JDRF Walk for a Cure which was fantastic.
By all accounts everyone enjoyed the day, including those who got lost, and everyone had a really great run and workout, including those who got lost.
I would like to put a special thankyou out there to Antonia and Monica who helped with directing people and taking photos some of which are up on facebook and I will add more soon.
If you couldn't make the day our next run will be on Kokoda track in King's Park on the 24th of July.

As always we hope you have had a great weekend. This week signals less than a month before our big run, the feedback around the groups is fantastic and this is looking to be our biggest run yet. Keep training hard for a few more weeks and the work will pay off :) Remember friends and family are also welcome to come down for the run and it would be great if you caould just give me a heads up for the day.
On another note this is a short week for many before a nice long weekend. In regards to what sessions are on /not on it would be best to speak with your trainers as it is up to personal preferences and also your wishes for when we we schedule training sessions.
Lastly Adam Rowney has gone and set up an Edge Fitness group on the moves count webpage. This is a great tool for all you Suunto watch users. You can see what we as trainers do with our training and also upload your own programs. Eventually we will also use this so you can download running programs to your watch for our training sessions and follow these then you can upload them later on for your trainers to see. It is a great tool and also a great motivator.
The page is still new but we will be continuing to work out how to use it. If you are interested in the Suunto Watches for your training just let myself or your trainers know.

I hope you have had a fantastic weekend and have enjoyed the return of the wet weather :) - Yes wet training sessions but just remember how much you did dislike the long warm patch we had, so hopefully you can enjoy the rain a chance to really work hard and to build on your cardio.
On that note it would really be great to see you look after yourself in the cold. So where appropriate track pants and jumpers before you start and for afterwards.
The running program for the Bibbulmun is up this week and is one of the hardest sessions to date - (it will be pretty hard for the next few weeks) so hopefully you can grit your teeth, take on the challange and use the cool weather to your advantage to get through it. It will pay off!!

This weeks update is to let you know that we have now added pictures to a few more trainer profiles, we are starting to upload the photos for our exercises library, look for the bloopers section of well what not to do :) also we have a new pushup from Dubai!
The running program is also up for this week, May 15th is getting closer and this week we start to build up the k's and intensity a bit more after a well deserved rest week.

Welcome back to the second edition in a row of a news update :)
Just to let you know week 2 of the running program is up. Also if you wish to commit to the run let me know and I can add your name to the list. Hopefully you have made a start on your training and are getting excited for the run ahead. It would be great to break the 50 participants mark.
I have also attached a file below for jersey designs, at this stage it is based on a football singlet but we can look at sleeved versions and also women’s versions if we get the numbers. The style of singlet we are looking at will be printed on therefore we can completely customise the design.
The design file has been attached as we have had interest from people looking to help out with the design and we will be giving away a free singlet to the winning design.
A few tips that we would like to incorporate into the jersey.
- Space for a name or nickname on the back
- It could contain a slogan (possibly space for individual slogans)
- Reference to JDRF and that we run for a cure (possibly right chest)
- Our Edge Fitness Logo and our Edge Fitness Colours
I will also attach a photo of the jersey that we had done up for the umpiring Boundaries vs. Field Umpires Football game
If you would like to submit a design or are wishing to put your name down for a jersey please let me know. (Jerseys are likely to be around the $50 ball park, however we may look to hold a quiz night or the like closer to the date which may reduce the cost and the more we order the cheaper they will be.)

Welcome to the official re-re-launch of the Edge Fitness News Page.
Alot of exciting things have been happening of late and we would really like to share these with you.
First of all we would like to congratulate the following people on there fantastic run at the Sorrento Run for JDRF, it was a tough 7k in the heat with many still choosing the soft sand for the finaly 1.5k. Well done to the following people.
I would also like to thank Christine and Andy for putting on breakfast afterwards, a well deserved feed :)
Heads up as well that the next run is scheduled for the 15th of May and will be at Mundaring Weir. There will be both a 14k individual and team option.
